While tidbits about the fourth episode of Mafia Wars, called Mafia
Wars: Bangkok, have trickled out over the last few weeks with such
things as a contest to determine which player would become a boss in
the new game. Last night, the team at Zynga unleashed more information
along with a prerequisite for journeying to the Asian territory.
In order to gain a passport to Bangkok, players will need to journey to
New York and acquire three special loot items, a Triad Coin, Yakuza
Sake and a Thai Note. To make those loot items more obvious, the loot
icons shown in the Soldier, Enforcer and Hitman job tiers has also
changed from a typical money bag to a golden elephant. While they
weren't easy to acquire and took load of energy, all three items were
quickly gained a simple message:
"Congratulations! You have found the 3 Bangkok items hidden in NY and
are almost all set for the Bangkok Release. You will be given the
passport on the launch date which is coming soon."
As to the game's storyline, Zynga offers a few hints on the placeholder page for Mafia Wars: Bangkok.
"For decades, the Japanese Yakuza and Chinese Triads have battled for
control over the lucrative criminal markets of Thailand. As a newcomer,
you'll need to choose a side to succeed in Bangkok. This isn't a
one-way relationship, though - as you increase your standing with your
chosen faction, you'll also earn access to additional items to fill out
your arsenal."
When might players get Mafia Wars: Bangkok? Zynga previously stated
that the game would release during the holiday season and with a few
days remaining in December, we suspect that your trip to Bangkok is
closer than you'd expect.
