"A good hit man has no conscience at all."
- Pete Diopoulis
Hits are a great way for upper level characters to gain money and
kills. They're also a great way to get even. Here are a few tips:
You Better Be Fast!
Most hits only remain on the board for a matter of seconds, and only
the most powerful mobsters last for more than a few minutes. To be
successful pulling hits, you must have a fast internet connection.
Also, constantly hit the refresh button on your browser. DO NOT WAIT
FOR THE HITLIST BUTTON TO LIGHT UP ON THE HOME PAGE - by the time that
happens, you are way too late to collect on the hit, unless it is one
of the made men (who can sometimes hold out for a couple of minutes).
Finally, you better be willing to dedicate some time to this. Others
will also be fighting for the same hits, so you must pounce on the
victim fast and get as many attacks in as possible. If you are lucky,
your attack will be the one that finishes him.
At some point after clicking the hitlist 85 times in 20 seconds, you
will be stopped and asked to enter a code to make sure you are not a
bot. Not to worry, this is just a simple software protection. Enter the
code and continue.
Browsers As reaction
time is critical, the web browser you use makes a tremendous
difference. When I am doing hits, I will use Firefox rather than
Internet Explorer because the response time is much better. By response
time I mean the time lapse from when you click the attack button, until
the browser starts to contact the server. Also, Firefox loads pages
quicker, so you save a little time with every click of the "hitlist" or
refresh button. To be honest, I did not get my first hit kill until I
started using Firefox. It was that much faster. There is little you can
do about actual speed of the server, but as mentioned in the last hint,
a fast internet connection will help a lot. If you don't want to switch
browsers, consider disabling addon such a website scanners and toolbars
while you are pulling hits. The more add-on your browser has, the
slower it will react.
Defending Against Hits
Obviously, the easiest way to avoid hits is to not piss people off! But
there is another way, one that is overlooked. Now I'm not sure what all
the attributes are that are used to determine your hit value, but I do
know one of them is your total worth (property-wise). I don't have a
particularly huge mob, nor am I the greatest fighter in the world, but
I am very wealthy. It costs well over $300 million to put a contract
out on me, which is a very high figure for my current level. Use the
wealth building tricks I showed you in the money section, and make
yourself more wealthy than you should be for your level. Most people
who want to hit you will not have the cash on hand, and by the time
they save up enough, they will have forgotten about your "crimes" and
will move on.
When To Hire A Hit Do
this with caution. Just because someone attacks you or punches you in
the face doesn't mean you should put a contract out on them. I usually
will only put a contract out on someone if they attack me 3-4 times
consecutively, or if they repeatedly attack me over a number of days.
When someone does this, either they have a bone to pick with you, or
they see you as a mark for easy money (and will probably attack you
repeatedly in the future). Hire the hit instantly if possible - don't
wait. This way the attacker knows why he was hit, and will probably
steer clear of you in the future. Again, this is another reason you
should build up your wealth, to hire hits when you need them.
The "Wolf Pack" Strategy
I have a number of 100+ level friends who will sit around at night and
do nothing but pull hits. Basically they get together, and as a group
of 4-5 people, will simultaneously attack the hits as a group. One of
the members almost always gets the kill, and in a primetime playing
session (early evening) of a couple of hours, its not uncommon for them
to pull in 10 Billion EACH. So get your friends together, and hit these
marks in force!
