Yes, I know, I needed to do this ages ago. The Widget Factory is gone, despite our complaining. We're stuck with the Sweets Factory. So, to make the best out of a bad situation, I will present this tips volume to help you get the most out of it. (Note, this guide will replace the Widget Factory guide in previous versions of my tips.)

Before starting to bake, you need to know there are tricks to getting more money out of this: having a lot of friends (preferably over 50 in your crew), having a LOT of time on your hands, and timing everything exactly.

Friends: For the first aspect mentioned above, you NEED friends. Each baked good gets a bonus when taken out of the oven, based directly on how many friends you have. Continuing on the balloons series, this tutorial will cover the balloon sets. The majority of these sets involve mixing balloons to make each of the balloons in the set. For my next edition of my YoVille tips series, I am going to cover the YoPoints (YP) system, and the levels. The levels and YP in Yoville are still relatively new. Basically, you do things in YoVille to get YP, and as you gain YP you reach new levels. At some levels you get special items, others you gain actions, and in still others you gain special titles in the game.

Since yoville.com is really screwed up for the 2nd day in a row, and I'm limited on what I can do there (besides mixing, but not throwing, balloons), I figured I'd start my first in series of Yoville help guides.

For those of you not familiar with YoVille, it is a game by Zynga (of Mafia Wars fame.) You make a cute little avatar, and wander around a virtual world. You can earn coins, and use them to buy things in the stores. You start off with a barebones apartment with starter furniture. As you get through the game, and level up with experience points, you gain rooms for your apartment and items (as well as action moves.) Starting at Level 8, you are required to have a bathroom in your restaurant to keep your customers happy. If you have an open, clean bathroom that the customers can use, they will give you a thumbs up on the way out and your popularity will increase. If you don’t they will not provide you the thumbs up and you will lose out on possible popularity points. In fact, you can see which ones wanted to use the bathroom by seeing the toilet picture over their heads as they walk out.

Toilets get dirty every four uses, and require to be cleaned. The only way to clean the bathrooms is to have one of your employees either be a full time cleaner, or switch one from another duty to cleaning part-time. These cleaners will also clean up food left on the floor by customers and increase your coins as if you did it yourself, however when they are not in use they will not accomplish anything. One of the most efficient restaurant designs to keep your customers happy is an island. This helps reduce the time between your waiters trips to the cook and the customer. There are a few different types of Restaurant City island designs, and based around the amount of cooks you have at it and the amount of tables for customers to sit at.

Making islands is a good idea in order to keep your popularity up. It keeps your customers happy and reduces them from getting up and leaving the restaurant without eating.

One of the most important parts of a functional restaurant in Restaurant City is waiting chairs and areas. These provide the customers with a place to sit down as they wait to be seated at a real table to eat. Restaurant City waiting chairs are a chair with no table. A real world version of this is easy to see, since most restaurants have waiting areas for customers.

In order to create a functional restaurant city waiting area, make sure to follow these simple rules:

• Place several chairs in between the door and your eating area so that the customers have a place to sit.
• Make sure that you place the chairs at an angle from the front door so that customers will sit in them.

Remember, a waiting area will delay customers from giving you ratings but will not convert them. If a customer comes into your restaurant and cannot get a table then you will get a negative ratings from them which will reduce your popularity.

Restaurant City mazes are a great way to make the interior of your restaurant more efficient.  They slow the customer down on the way to your tables, giving your customers more time to eat and free up the seats.  Also, because they spend more time on the way to the seats, overall they will wait longer to be seated.

So how do we create mazes in Restaurant City?

1. Move the door of your restaurant all the way to one side, near the corner.
2. Put items in the way of the customer to direct them in a path toward the interior of your restaurant. These can be anything such as trophies, tables, mailboxes or anything. Later on, you can upgrade to nicer looking items such as ropes or partitions.
3. Move your tables as far away from the maze as possible so that the customers spend more time on the way to the tables.

When starting out in Restaurant City, we often see all the cool looking equipment and want to jump right in to making our restaurant styled the way we want it. Marveling at the different types of tables, wall decorations, and ovens – trying to make everything match perfectly.

Unfortunately, having a really cool looking restaurant is more cosmetic than actually functional in this game. If you want to raise levels faster and make more money, then you will need to focus on functional designs first and cosmetic designs second.

Functional designs focus on things like:

• How fast can a customer be served?
• How can in-game popularity be increased?
• How can revenue be increased?
• How can customer wait time be decreased?
• How can we reduce dissatisfied customers?

For the most part, the more you focus on the functionality of your restaurant, the more money you will have available for cosmetic upgrades.

Introduction

We will be discussing how difficult is it to level up certain dishes in Restaurant City. The purpose for this will be to pick the easier dishes, and go with them. The reason for this is that the quicker you can level up a dish, the more gourmet points you will have, and therefore be a higher level in the game. This eventually leads to more money, and unlocking more features.

This is setup on a formula that considers both:

1. How likely someone is to trade with you, and
2. The current level of demand for those ingredients (using the Market app on Facebook’s statistics).

1. In order to powerlevel in Restaurant City, you are going to need to follow a few rules. First you are going to have to make sure to design your restaurant in a functional way.

Levels 1-7

At first you are going to have to purchase only the basic tables and chairs. Don’t worry about specially designed floor tiles, wallpapers, etc. Make mazes out of cheap tables and chairs (not setup to eat at) so that you can use them when you have a bigger restaurant. Save your money to upgrade your ingredients, learn recipes and level them up. The higher level your recipes, the more gourmet points you will get for each meal served.

When you start out at Level 1 dishes, you will only get one experience point per course served to your customers. If your customer eats three courses, (starter, main, desert) you will get one experience point per dish or three points for three courses.

When you level up your dishes, you will gain about 0.2 experience points for each level you raise. For example, a level 2 dish will give you 1.2 experience points. The best way to build your experience points is to level each of your dishes – your starters, main dishes, and deserts.

To level up your dishes, you first need to get enough ingredients to level them up.

The first garden plot is unlocked at level 16 and it costs $2,000 to plant a seed. This is quite a bit cheaper than buying them at the marketplace. However, you don’t get to choose what the seed will grow in to so it is a bit risky. This is a list of the ingredients that can be grown from the garden.

Ingredients are the backbone of all of your recipes in Restaurant City. In order to learn and upgrade recipes several levels, you have to have a large quantity of specific Restaurant City ingredients.

There are several ways to get ingredients:

• Log in to the game each day and you will get one ingredient each time.
• Look in your Restaurant City mailbox each day and you will find a food quiz. If you answer the question correctly, you will get a new ingredient.
• Visit a new Restaurant City friend for the first time, and you will get a new ingredient.
• Purchase more ingredients from the ingredient market.
• Grow your own ingredients once you reach level 16.

How can you make more money in Restaurant City? Well, among the many different ways to do this is to shake trees! But how does one shake trees? And which trees can we shake?

While you are looking at the interior view of your restaurant, scroll over to your garden. You will see a few trees over there, as shown below.

All you need to do now is to click them, and they will shake left and right. If you are lucky, yes it is random, money will fall out of them. Go ahead and scroll around the outside of your building and you will see more trees to shake of different styles. Don’t forget to check across the street too, as there are trees over there as well.

Your Restaurant City employees are one of your most valuable assets in the game, so you better take care of them. Regardless of the fact that they are your friends, (well, little avatars that represent your friends) they do work for you in your restaurant and drive your profits as well as gourmet points up!

How often should I feed them?
The more energy your Restaurant City employees have, the more productive they will be. It may be slightly more expensive to feed them every time they reach 75%, but it will pay off in terms of productivity. Your customers will be more satisfied and you will be able to serve more of them. You lose 25% of your energy roughly every 50 minutes, so make sure to set some type of timer to remind you to refill this when you have the game running in another window or have it closed.

We don’t recommend using cheats, they are unsupported and could potentially be harmful to you. Many cheat “programs” install viruses, spyware, or other malware on your computer. Here is a list of Restaurant City cheats that are being circulated and do not work or never have worked.

Cheat Programs – These are the programs people use to cheat in Restaurant City. I have been told they are currently working, but haven’t tested them. Use them at your own risk!
Invisible Roof Cheat – This cheat once let you have an invisible roof in Restaurant City but no longer works. Don’t waste your time.

Why do we want our Restaurant City popularity to be high, and how do we get it there? Popularity in Restaurant City is listed in the top right of your game screen. This is the number next to the thumbs up icon, and measured on a scale from 0 to 50. This is the rating that customers give you based on their experience of your restaurant.

So thats what it is, but here is why we want our restaurant city popularity to be high. When customers have a good (or bad) opinion of your restaurant, it in effect is them telling their friends what they thought and the rest of your customers will react accordingly. When your popularity in restaurant city goes up, the amount of patrons visiting your restaurant will as well.

In order to increase your Restaurant City popularity rating, make sure to listen to your customers. You can do this by watching the cartoon bubble over their heads as they leave your establishment. Each one of these will indicate something to you.

One common thing that players of Restaurant City want to know is how to make more money. Since each dish only yields $2, despite what level you are or your dish is, this can be challenging. The only way to actually make more money in the game is to increase the efficiency of your employees in your restaurant, therefore serving more customers, faster.

So how do you get more customers in your restaurant to serve? The answer to this is simply: popularity. The higher your popularity, the more customers will come through the door to eat at your restaurant, therefore giving you more opportunities to make a sale. Animals are cute, cuddly, and fun to see running around your farm. They make great decoration and even perhaps company when you are spending time at your farm regularly plowing and planting crops. You can even send them to your friends as gifts for free so that they have a few animals around their farm to remind them of you.

These are all great aspects of animals in Farmtown. Unfortunately, animals don’t really have any practical use in Farm Town currently. What do I mean by this?

• Animals cannot breed or reproduce
• Animals do not get fatter as they eat, nor can you slaughter them
• Selling an animal will only gross a small amount of coins, resulting in a loss if you paid for it
• Animals can slow down your computer and gameplay if you have many of them and/or a slow computer

Basically, as it stands now, animals in Facebook’s Farmtown are great for a little entertainment around the farm but have very little to no practical use.

Gifts in Farm Town are a great feature to the online game. First of all, gifts are absolutely free to send to all of your friends and there is a relatively high limit on how many friends you can send these out to, for me at this time it is 24. So lets talk about Farm Town gifts then.

What gifts are best in Farm Town?
Right now there are three types of gifts in Farm Town; there are animals, flowers, and trees. Which one all depends on your friends style but I will suggest that trees are the best, flowers are the second best, and to avoid sending animals. Why is this?

Trees are a great gift to send because they not only look nice but they can be harvested regularly for coins. They are also great gifts in Farm Town because most of the trees cannot be purchased in the store – the only way to obtain them is through gifts.

Farm Town friends are always good to have, they can come help out at your farm and you can visit theirs. Not only do they come in handy when achieving trophies, but having ten can unlock the special game feature of hiring people to plow your fields. This is huge and saves a lot of time if you are so inclined to hire your Farm Town friends to do so. In addition to this, hiring a neighbor to plow your fields is cheaper than hiring a stranger.

Farm Town has a great variety of houses to choose from in the store. The higher Farm Town level you are, the more you can unlock and purchase. Farm Town houses aren’t functional in the sense that you can go in them, store things in them, or really do anything else with them other than take up space in the middle of your farm. While you have been playing Farm Town, you may have noticed that you gain experience points for doing various things in the game. This is partially done by planting the best crops on your farm, but can also be achieved when you buy items for your farm. As a general rule, you get more experience points by purchasing more expensive items – but this is not always the case. If you are trying to balance aesthetics of your farm with your desire to get more experience and level up, take a look at these ratios.

One possible idea you can also incorporate is purchasing items with a high ratio of experience points per dollar, and then selling them back to the store. You won’t get very much money back by doing this, but it might be an option if you want to power level and just want the experience points.

Often times we want to buy extra items for our farm, or plant better crops but they are out of our reach because we need to raise our Farm Town level. So how close can you plant your trees together in Farm Town and still be able to harvest the fruit of your labor? Obviously you need to plant your trees in a fashion so that your character is able to physically reach the tree, and you ideally would like to be able to easily click on the tree to harvest from it as well.

After creating a massive Farm Town tree grove, filled with orange trees, I came up with the following configuration to plant trees and still be able to harvest from them. Each red square represents an orange tree.

Do you have some empty space on your farm that you would like to plant some trees in, yet are afraid to do it because you don’t wish to cover up other pieces of real estate? This is a common problem, and leads people to often only plant trees along the top border of their property. But with the obvious benefits of having trees in your Farmtown farm, such as not having to replow and plant every time for each harvest, it could be foolish to avoid trees altogether. You no longer have to stick to just the best Farm Town crops and can start planting trees too!

Luckily, the makers of Farmtown have designed a nice workaround that allows you to make the trees invisible when harvesting. This can be very useful when you are trying to harvest a plowed field that may be covered up by said trees. Follow along with the steps below.

Planting trees in Facebook seems to be an underrated strategy. Out of all the farms I have worked at, most are dominated by crops planted over and over. While there are several benefits to planting crops such as experience points gained and fast profit turn-around, it can also be very time consuming. Crops must be plowed, then planted, then harvested. This results in a very repetitive process which can get old quick. Why put yourself through that when you could be having fun instead?

Orange trees cost roughly $450 per tree and yield a harvest of about $50. What this means is that it will take about 9 harvests to break even. This seems like a really long time and can obviously be a large deterrant to planting. However, after the break even point has been reached then every harvest after this is pure profit. Tired of spending hours plowing your farm? It seems inevitable that in order to plant and harvest crops, you have to plow your fields. However, luckily Farm Town has a great feature out there that allows you to hire others to plow your fields for you. But what all goes along with this feature, and how do we access it?

First of all, in order to be able to use the Hire to Plow feature you have to unlock it. In order to do this, you must have 10 neighbors in the game. Once you do this, the feature will automatically unlock and you can use it. We have an article available if you want some tips on how to get Farm Town friends.

Spending hours on end in Farm Town can have the result of wishing to find ways to plow fields and plant crop seeds faster. Efficiency in plowing and planting can save time and help you get more done. So what is the best way?

Many of you have created a system for when you plow and plant in Farm Town unconsciously that you stick with. However, have you ever noticed that sometimes your character doesn’t move when you do this? Surprisingly enough, when you plow and plant in a certain way, your character will stand still yet get work done across the screen.

How do I plow and plant faster?

The question comes up often, what strategy do I employ to move up the fastest in Farm Town? The answer is undeniable! If you are willing to stick it out and put the time in, this crop can not only be profitable to you in terms of experience points but also terms of harvest at the market. Any newbie to the game of Farm Town needs to know which one to stick to and work that one crop.

What is the crop to plant in Farm Town? The best crop for a starting user is by far raspberries, and here is why: (1) Raspberries only have a two hour turnover, this allows you to plant and harvest them several times a day. (2) Each time you plow and plant, you will gain experience from this. By doing this multiple times per day, you maximize the experience gained. Have you visited your neighbors farms and noticed that their crops seem to be planted a lot closer together than yours? It is no coincidence, they are and your neighbors are able to plant more harvests in their farm than yours as a result.

For one reason or another, Farmtown defaults to planting your crops with a space between each plowed plot. This breeds inefficiency in your farming operation and, in my opinion, looks bad. However, if you plant your crops closer together you can not only have larger harvests without buying more land, but you can have more room for houses and other farm decorations.

The Importance of Stats
At lower levels, your stats are critical. They are a major determining factor in fights. Boss size is not critical, so variations in stats often determines victory. Raising your energy levels so you can pull higher level jobs is also key.

As you progress in level, stats rapidly diminish in importance. Mob size takes over from stats in determining fights. The number of levels between gaining new jobs also increases, meaning you don't have to invest a huge amount in energy.

Fighting is King
Simply, there is no faster way to gain levels than to fight non-stop. Period. Jobs are nice, hits pay well, but at the end of the day plain old fighting is the fastest way to gain levels. Make sure to read the section on fighting for a good overview, and here are a couple of addtional tips:

One of the newest ways to get 500 mob member fast is to join an "add me" group on Facebook. You should know what groups are on facebook, so I'm not going to go into that aspect of it. But there are groups on Facebook soley dedicated to gaining mob members not only for Mob Wars but other Facebook games as well. Basically they work like this: You join the group, and you will get a number of people that will email you with requests to add them to your mob each day. Admin status of these groups rotates, so eventually you will get the administrator status. When you do become an admin, you can then send out a mass message to all in the group, and you will get deluged with friend requests and adds. It couldn't be easier.

Basically just start a new thread or join an existing one on a Mob Wars topic to ask people to join your mob.

There are a couple of tricks to this to get the best results, however. Almost everyone on these message boards will put up a post like "Add Me", or "Add Me Please". Building up the size of your mob is critical to increasing your power in Mob Wars. Here are some of the keys:

Mob Size Is Critical For Fighting and Defense
At lower levels, mob size is pretty much irrelevent. A level 3 character with a tiny mob has a very good chance of defeating an equal level character if he is properly armed and has appropriate stats.

But as you progress, this changes quickly. By the time you're a 20-something level mobster, if you have a significantly larger mob than the person you are fighting, you will win (if properly equipped). Conversely, if you have a small mob, you will become a target, and you will lose often.

You Better Be Fast!
Most hits only remain on the board for a matter of seconds, and only the most powerful mobsters last for more than a few minutes. To be successful pulling hits, you must have a fast internet connection. Also, constantly hit the refresh button on your browser. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE HITLIST BUTTON TO LIGHT UP ON THE HOME PAGE - by the time that happens, you are way too late to collect on the hit, unless it is one of the made men (who can sometimes hold out for a couple of minutes). What good is a mob game if you can't fight other mobsters? Fighting is a great way to make some cash, get experience, and get payback on your enemies. Here are some tips to getting the most out of your fights.

Mob Size Is King
At lower levels, mob size really doesn't matter much. But as you progress, it becomes HUGE. By the time you are level 20, try to build up your mob to 20 people, and as a general rule, try to add a new member each level.

The bank is probably the least thought about aspects of the game, but one that can cost you dearly if you are not paying attention. Here are some tips:

Why Use the Bank?
Quite simply, if you don't use the bank at lower levels, you will get robbed blind. Every time someone attacks you, they have the chance to get up to $100,000 of your money. When you are first starting out, that is a ton of dough to lose consistently. Failure to put your money in the bank will make you a target, and severly limit you growth.

Also, you cannot pay for medical attention with your ill-gotten booty. Doctors will only take money that has been properly laundered by the bank. So EVERYONE must have some money in the bank.

One area that is often overlooked is reducing your expenses. Here are a couple of tips:

Stockpile Expense Management
Only keep the items in your stockpile you absolutely need to 1) do jobs, and 2) arm your mob. Remember, your mobsters can only carry one weapon, drive one vehichle, and wear one peice of armor. So having a mob of 30 people yet having 200 grenade launchers does you no good. As you become richer, this becomes much less of a factor, but it is HUGE when you are starting out.

As you progress and pull jobs, certain jobs will have the chance to drop "special weapons". These weapons are generally more powerful than similiar level weapons you can purchase, but best of all, they drop for free and require NO UPKEEP! So collect as many of these special weapon ... Read more »

If you truly want to build a pile of cash, the best way is through property. I'm only level 28, yet I make $30 million every 54 minutes (roughly $780 million a day) from my property. Make money 24/7, and you don't have to be online. The drawbacks are it's slow, and you become a target, but it is well worth it in the long run.

I invest every spare penny I have into property, and log on daily to either buy more or bank my income. But there are a few VERY important strategies that speed up the process, and insure you are getting the most for your dollar.

There are four main ways to pull in piles of cash instantly. They are doing jobs, fighting, pulling hits, and the godfather. I've detailed each below:

Pulling Jobs
This should be your main focus when you are lower level, up to levels 10-15. Jobs provide a good amount of experience, and give you money. They are relatively safe, and carry only the risk of going to jail (which you can escape from). Its important to note that almost all jobs require items be carried in the Stockpile to complete, and some, such as liquor smuggling, require you do a distill liquor job before you can smuggle it. New build of Country Story (04/09/2009). There have been some changes made to the User Interface, in particular for the FriendShip UI and also you will now see different things on your mousepointer when you do different tasks.
